This image was photographed with a 1200mm Red Dot Artar mounted on a 12" extension tube on a studio Century 8x10 camera which was mounted on a three foot platform on a massive Linhoff tripod and stabilized with front and back elevator tripods. 1/10th second on all three exposures at f45, on Ektachrome transparency film. Because the shutter exposed the center first and edges last, it was necessary to build trial-and-error masks to sandwich with the original, and make 16x20 dupes in order to produce a poster in 1983. This image was joined and evened out using photoshop in 2000. Yes, that is the real moon on that morning.
